August 2015 SLVI Update

Hello Praying Friend,
Warm greetings from Freetown, Sierra Leone. On behalf of my wife, Adama Viola Fornah, I write to express sincere thanks for your on going prayers and concern for the skills vocational school for girls, especially the  vulnerable. Indeed, your PRAYERS makes the difference. This August update focuses on the literacy session of all the girls in training. The school is holistic in nature (doing skills training ,such as tailoring, hair dressing, catering, arts and craft, and literacy classes). It provides a well balance and sustainable results to all the girls.
A great number of the girls could not read and write when they enrolled into the school. Many are coming from poor parental backgrounds that could not afford them the opportunity to go to school. All of them are desperate to READ and WRITE. EDUCATION IS POWER, even for women in Sierra Leone. Great to report that a great number of them can now cope with basic English and Maths. The process continues. Many could now spell their names and do all the alphabets on paper. They are highly commended and respected in their respective homes. However, it takes TIME and PATIENCE to get them through. Thanks for the effort of dedicated teachers and the motivation of Mrs Adama Viola Fornah. One of them remarked “Now I can proudly face the future and public gathering; I used to be very shy and inferior because of my inability to read and write”
Spiritual transformation, the core of the school continues to gain momentum. General attitude and behaviors of students are shaped by the word of God on a daily prayers. They pray fervently for their daily needs (including those from Muslim background), and the Lord hears their sincere prayers. We would continue to solicit your prayers, as you are doing for the following!
 1. That the Lord would provide scholarship opportunities for students in training. A great number cannot just afford to support themselves. Skills training requires heavy support. Practical materials for all various departments are quite expensive.
 2. Pray for funding to keep the administration of the school going. Ten workers and teachers need to be paid on a monthly basis. The school is a FAITH based venture. However, the Lord has never failed us!
3. Pray for the girls. Many are single parents and some are orphans. Pray for God’s daily provision to keep their homes going.
 4. Pray for the dedicated teachers and Proprietress (Mrs Adama Viola Fornah). She needs wisdom, courage and strength to cope with the daily demands of the school.
 5. The Lord has provided a vast land for a permanent school building. Our present building is a rented one. Pray for urgent funding to kick start the permanent school building.
THANKS so much for taking time to read this update! We would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this update. You may like to also send us an update on your ministry, family or business, for the common purpose of prayer. Remember: IRON SHARPENS IRON! Please, find pictures attached below. We do very much count on your partnership and support!
   Till He comes!
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an  Harvest,
 Warren and Adama Viola Fornah.
