Welcome to the Sierra Leone Vocational institute website!  Formally known as the Center for Training the Vulnerable: Vocational Institute of Sierra Leonne or (CEVVVI-SL), this grass-roots school has been a source of hope for dozens of women living in Sierra Leonne Africa.  In the early 80’s Adama Viola Fornah had a dream. She had a dream for her sisters, friends and community. She had a dream for the vulnerable women of Sierra Leonne who were single mothers, impoverished, unable to make a living and often forced into prostitution.  With her dream, God also gave a vision of a safe place in Freetown where these women would learn literacy and a practical trade so they could feed their family and themselves.  So she did what any devoted pastor’s wife did; she prayed; and her husband Rev. Warren Fornah prayed with her. They prayed for their community and a way to bring hope, prosperity and self-sufficiency to those around them.   And on the 12th October, 2012, starting with ten students, God made her dream a reality.

CEVVVI presently has 60 students all with a story and a similar dream of being self-sufficient. More students are being enrolled every day. However, the school has not been without its delays and set-backs.  CEVVVI, (like all other schools in the nation) was closed down for almost eleven months, due to the Ebola outbreak. Sierra Leonne was one of the hardest hit and orphaned many young ladies who now needed the school more than ever. Thanks to the Ebola recovery and quarenteen efforts, CEVVVI resumed full operations again during the month of April, 2015. The school presently has ten paid teachers who are paid only by faith and miraculous provision since most of the girls cannot afford tuition.

The first graduation ceremony is expected to take place in December, 2015. Skills program include HAIRDRESSING, TAILORING, CATERING, GARA TIE-DYE, LITERACY, AND ART/CRAFTS.  About ten girls are on internship and should be the first group to graduate in December.
