NOT TAKING NO FOR AN ANSWER (Skills Training)

Hello Partners in Ministry!!x
Grace, Peace and Love from the beautiful nation of Sierra Leone!! Many good things continue to happen in our ministry, at both local Church, teaching, and with girls in the Skills training gInstitute. The new building continues to attract mothers baby. Their utmost desire is to be trained and equipped, like any other women in the community. They are simply saying “We cannot take NO for an answer. This is a golden opportunity we have. We cannot miss it”.
This is just so great. It keeps my wife and motivated to go the extra mile to assist them with daily transportation to and from school. They travel by bus everyday to school with their kids in hand. All of them are in the tailoring department, and very vigorous to learn the skill of training. My wife spends adequate time in counseling and spiritual encouragement to each of the girls/women. She leads devotions with each of the departments every day. Time of singing, praising God and praying.

 PRAYER REQUEST:
  1. Because of the strong growing desire for skills training in the tailoring department, especially with mature women enrolling everyday, the acute need is there for sewing machines. Girls literally scramble everyday for the limited machines available. We want as many as twenty or more new foot peddlers sewing machines, at a cost of $250 each. This will really ease the tension we have currently. Please, pray with us for this urgent need.
 2. Pray for more spiritual transformation in the lives of the girls. Muslims have enrolled. Pray for a touch of God on their lives.
 3. Pray that the school will widely represent Christ in this Muslim community. A great mission field.
THANKS so much for standing with us all the time, morally spiritually and financially. We continue to deeply appreciate you all. We cannot relent to always pray for you all!! Please find some timely pictures attached on my update. Please, let us know whether pictures came out clearly, explaining the update. Keep in touch.  “At the time those who feared the Lord spoke to one another. The Lord took notice and listened”(Malachi 3:16)
  Shalom!!
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,

DEDICATION AND GRADUATION CEREMONY OF SKILLS VOCATIONAL SCHOOL!!

Saturday 23rd March marked the official dedication and graduation of the Center for Empowerment Vocational Institute (CEVVI).  It was a colorful event; seeing nineteen students from various departments (sewing,  hairdressing, catering arts and crafts) graduate with the whole spirit of SUSTAINABILITY marked on their hearts and faces. Many of their family members and friends showed up for the graduation. The new hall sits about five hundred people. The Lord surprised us, and we were able to do as much completion on the hall; even though we still have some major finishing touch to do.

Many testimonies came out from transformed girls. One openly said in tears of joy that she has been radically transformed from stone breaking to a fully self employed (catering) lady. She is currently the bread winner of her home. Another testified of now living a life of integrity. She was known as a chief idler within her community for may years. Her new found training has radically transformed her into a virtuous lady, and now living for Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord!!

Muslim girls are currently admitted into the school; especially vulnerable Muslim ladies.  Many graduated with Jesus Christ, and many more on the verge of doing so. (which is the major objective of the school). The beautiful graduation gowns were beautifully done by the sewing department.

    PRAYER POINTS!!
1. There is an urgent  need for more scholarship assistance; especially to Muslim girls seeking admission. This kind of assistance has a lot to say in their lives and respective families. Please, pray for God’s provision of funds to assist many. We don’t want them to drop out of the school program.

2. . Pray for self employment/ other employments for students who graduated.
3.  That Jesus will continue to work in their lives.
4,   Pray for the spirit of resilience and determination on all continuing students.

THANKS once more for all your prayers and support.  We are always happy to hear from you. Would be happy to know whether attached pictures came out clear and fine. Our prayers are always with you. We continue to deeply cherish your ministry partnership.

  Shalom!!!

New Building: GIRLS CAN’T WAIT!!

Beloved Friend,

Please, see attached pictures on progress activity, on school building. Painting going on;  Girls in training are so curious to commence school in their new building. One remarked “I cannot wait any longer to see and enter my long awaited building. It is just so good, big and spacious” A good number of them showed up yesterday and today for school, despite work in progress. It shows how serious and DETERMINED they are towards achieving sustainability. Since Monday they have been coming in good number; quite excited in their new building. They have commenced practical work!!
Students in the sewing department displayed products they made publicly in the new school compound today. These various dresses were made in the former rented school building.  Many young girls in the community have been impressed and now making their minds to enroll in the school. Well wishers and parents are also very excited. The new area is predominantly a Muslim one.  It is a great opportunity to present the love of Jesus Christ through skills training.

THANKS once more for partnering with us!! Have a blessed viewing below. May His JOY continue to be your strength this day!! Your prayers we deeply appreciate. One of our pending needs now is an addition of more sewing machines. Present number of students in the sewing department have out numbered the sewing machines we have. We fervently trusting God for an addition of twenty, at a cost $250 each. Fervently praying for you all!! Praying for more of God’s favor and divine blessing on you and yours!!

Please, let us know whether all attached pictures came out clear and fine!!

Pressing towards the Sierra Leone-an harvest,

MANY UPDATES 2018!! NEW BUILDING!

Hello Beloved supporters and prayer warriors! Please forgive the belated updates. The Lord has done much and allowed incredible growth in the school both in students and in providing land for the new school! The building is almost complete but we have an urgent need for 20 new sewing machines. Our curriculum depends on these to train and teach the students in tailoring and seamstress skills. Please Reply to this message or reach out to Warren if you or your ministry would be able to either donate or give to help in this urgent need. Here is the latest update from Pastor Warren and his wife Adama (headmaster of the school).

VULNERABLE GIRLS PRESSING ON WITH SCHOOL WORK!

Hello Friends,

Please, find attached pictures on happy girls making practical progress in various departments. Their hands and heads are very much engaged now. However, there is an urgent need for about twenty more sewing machines. Finishing of the top floor continues as the Lord provides the funds. There is also the need for scholarship assistance. Most of the vulnerable girls are finding it hard to cope financially in buying practical materials, required for the various departments.  Learning environment is very much encouraging now.
Please, continue to pray with us on the needs mentioned above. THANKS so much for standing with us!!  How can we pray more for you this week? Keep in touch. Wishing you a good and godly week. Always a joy to hear from you.
 Shalom!!dd

Jan 2017: VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STORIES!

Hello Praying Friend,
Precious greetings from Freetown, Sierra Leone. Praising God for bringing all of us into another new year and era. The Center for Training the Vulnerable Vocational Institute is fully back in session after the short Christmas break. All girls in training are fully geared and engaged in class work and practical sessions. Final year students are also ready for three months practical internship in various departments.
In all of my updates I mentioned an outstanding need( scholarship provision), which would enable girls in training to continue their studies. Many of the girls are coming from terrible backgrounds, with no room for love and opportunity for progress in life. Many are single parents, some orphans,  making life even worst for them. Furthermore, all of them are coming from poor backgrounds. Enrolling into a two years skills vocational school has brought a sigh relieve to all of them. A great transformation is taking place in their lives spiritually and morally.
However, it is getting apparent and difficult to train a single girl. The major problem is the deteriorating economy (inflation), which continues to attract an increase in prizes in all commodities in the market. Every department (sewing, hairdressing, catering and arts/crafts) require practical demonstration on a daily basis. Students are required to buy various items from the market for practical purpose. A great number CANNOT just afford these items and also other logistics. Many feel discouraged and the temptation for them is to quit the school.  The burden of helping them lies on the head of my wife and I.
The Lord has been helping us. The need for a scholarship assistance cannot be overemphasized at this time. Scholarship assistance should cover practical learning materials, tuition, equipment, transportation and other school logistics. You may like to pray for any of these girls stated below and possibly consider assisting any one of them (on a monthly basis or annually).
Training a girl on a monthly basis is $100.  The school also has ten teachers and need to be paid on a monthly basis. The Lord has provided a land space for a permanent school building. Trusting God for funding to build a permanent structure!
 RAMATU KANU:
Ramatu comes from a poor Muslim background. Hard times and lack of love in the home forced her into the streets for twelve years. She heard about the school from a friend and decided to enroll in the tailoring departments. She gained consciousness of her identity. She desires to fully complete her two years study program-me, as long the Lord provides. She is living by faith on a daily basis for her school needs and personal needs.
 MAMIE BRIMAH:

Mamie was married, but the husband unlawfully abandoned her with four children. She has no one to support her and the children. She did all kinds of domestic and hard labor to survive, but life continue to be terrible. Passing by one day, she saw young ladies dressed in uniform in the schools compound. She became so motivated and captivated after interviewing the girls. She immediately enrolled in the Hairdressing department. Her desire is to become self sustainable after her training. She is everyday trusting God for a scholarship.
 ALICE HINCLEY:
Alice comes from a poor Muslim background. She lost her parents during the recent Ebola epidemic in the nation. With no one to assist her she decided to go into prostitution after the Ebola crises. She was however arrested one night and detained by the police on night patrol. After her release she decided to be focused. She immediately enrolled into the tailoring department and she is trusting God to see what will happen with her life.
ISATU KOROMA:

She was brought to the city by her Aunt some years back, with the hope of going to school. This did not work out well; she was also introduced to business which also did not work for her. After many wasted years, she met a Friend who introduced her to the skills vocational school. She immediately saw the need for enrollment into the catering department. She is excited over the program-me, even though she is faced with many challenges. (domestic and social)
FLORENCE KARGBO:

Florence was raised in the home of a single parent. Her father abandoned her and other six younger brothers and sisters at a very tender age. Her mother could not withstand the pressure of raising the kids; she eventually died out of stress. Florence dedicated her life to the Lord. She is enrolled into the Hairdressing department. Her desire is to be gainfully employed and equipped after her studies; so that she support her siblings.
 YEABU CONTEH:
At age sixteen she became pregnant and dropped out of school. She was thrown out of her home. She has been suffering for so long as a single parent. She finally decided to share her sad story with the Proprietress, Mrs Adama Fornah. She encouraged her to enroll into the catering department. She is working very hard to improve her status.
ISATA SESAY:
She is staying with her aunt for many years, but completely rejected and sad. She made many mistakes in life,  in the pursuit of survival. There was no hope until she decided to enroll into the hairdressing department of the school. Even though life is difficult and full of challenges, she is hopeful that with her new transformation there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
ISATU KANU:
She was forced into early marriage while staying in the village. She could not cope with the marriage. She decided to escape and came to the city. She stayed with her uncle, who eventually attempted to rape her. She vacated the house and stayed with a friend in the community. She was counseled by Mrs Adama Fornah and offered her enrollment in the school. She is doing fine in the tailoring department.
PRINCESS SESAY:
She came from a family with no moral standards. She was left on her own at a tender age. This forced her into fighting and joined gang groups. She was arrested and imprisoned on many occasions. She got frustrated with life. It was during this process that she was introduced to the skills school. She enrolled into the tailoring department and working to make it.
THANKS so much for taking time to read these stories. There are many more with similar stories, who need assistance. We deeply appreciate your prayers and support. Praying that your PARTNERSHIP will yield a great dividend in the live of a girl made and fashioned in the image of God. Be assured that you are also in our sincere PRAYERS!
Keep in touch! You may have some advise or questions for clarifications. Have a blessed day! Please, find some attached pictures of girls named and doing practical work. Keep in touch!
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,
Rev Warren and Adama Viola Fornah.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! From SLVI

Praying Friend,
Joy to the world, the Lord is come, let earth receive Her KING! The year is gradually coming to an end. Students and teachers in the Center for Training the Vulnerable Vocational Institute are working assiduously to end the year well. It is exam time in the school. (PRACTICAL). The various departments:( Hair dressing, sewing, catering, arts/crafts) are in top competitive spirit!. Praise the Lord for a good learning spirit:(spiritual and social)
Students are very much ready to implement in their families and communities this Christmas season what they are have achieved in the school. The JOY and HAPPINESS of Christmas is showing on their faces. SPIRITUAL: They are receiving in depth teaching on the true meaning and essence of Christmas. Spiritual transformation continues to be evident in the lives of the students.
 PRAYER HIGHLIGHT!
As we celebrate Christmas and gradually come to the end of the year, please remember the following in your daily prayers!
 1. Pray that the Lord will provide scholarship for girls in training. Practical aspects are quite expensive, especially with a broken economy in the nation. Many find it hard to cope with the many financial demands in related departments.
 2. Pray for additional equipment for the various departments, such as sewing machines etc.
 3. We need to have a PERMANENT school building on our own. The Lord has graciously provided the piece of land for this purpose. Pray for funding in 2017 to put up a permanent school building. This would save us from enormous annual school rent.
 5. Finally, pray for provision to get CHRISTMAS food and other things for both the hard working staff and students. They are very HOPEFUL that it will happen soon!
It is always a deep pleasure to THANK you for reading our updates, and especially for your prayers and concern. Your prayers has kept us going!. Please, feel free to make any contribution towards the school.(financial, social or moral).  You may have further advice to give. Website still under construction: www. SLVI.org.
A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a prosperous New Year, from the entire school, to you
and yours! Thanks for restoring HOPE, DIGNITY and WORTH in many vulnerable lives.
Please, take time to view  ATTACHED PICTURES! What a joy to hear from you.
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,

A Virtuous Woman

Hello Praying Friend,
Trusting you had a nice thanksgiving celebration and refreshing time in His presence this past Sunday. You have been in our prayers as a family. Proverbs 31 is one of our (family) key text in the bible:(A virtuous woman).  Among many virtues stated in Proverbs 31 is the fact that a virtuous woman is industrious and hard working. As the year comes to an end, we are doing a family reflection and thanking God for seeing us through the thick and thin of ministry.  A great honor has been bestowed on my wife as a virtuous woman. She typically resembles Dorcas in the bible.
So beautiful to see our partnership and collaboration in ministry. We both carry the gift of hospitality, and we continue to help many in need, through many means, such as skills training for the Vulnerable. My wife carries a strong passion for Sierra Leone-an girls, especially the less privileged, marginalized and drop outs in society. Out of her dream and passion we instituted CENTER FOR TRAINING THE VULNERABLE VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE as a ministry four year ago.
The school is holistic in nature (body, soul and spirit). We promote spiritual and social aspects together. This has created a tremendous impact in the lives of the girls in the school and in their respective families. My wife is fully involved in the spiritual and social training of these girls and ten teachers:(She walk the talk).
She is a fashion Designer by Profession. Her exemplary life continues to be a strong motivation to the teaching staff and girls in training. Please, we would continue to solicit your prayers for the following:
 1. Pray for strength, courage and spirit of resilience on my wife.
 2. Pray for will power to cope with her family and school responsibilities.
 3. That the Lord will provide all the needs of the school:(sewing machines, catering needs scholarship etc)
 4. Pray that God’s power of transformation will continue to be evident in the lives of the girls.
 5. Pray for a permanent school building. The land is already available. We are trusting God to provide the funds.
THANKS for taking time to pray for our needs. Please, find attached pictures of my wife sewing,  and burning the candle on both ends. There is a pending wedding on the 3rd December, 2016. She was specifically asked to do nine dresses for Brides Maids and Maid of Honor. She is completing this good work.
Would be so grateful to hear from you. Wishing you and yours a blessed week. Also wishing you 2 Timothy 4:18“THE LORD WILL PRESERVE YOU FOR HIS HEAVENLY KINGDOM” Please, keep in touch.

11.23.16: FROM NOBODY TO SOMEBODY!

Hello Praying Friend!
Grace, Peace and Love to you!. I cant wait to share with you the positive outcome, result and transformation coming out from the Skills Vocational School for Vulnerable Girls. Mary graduated on the 29th October as the best student in the catering department. She comes from a very poor backgrou nd, and was considered a drop out because she was not opportune to go to school. She is married, but family going through a difficult life.
Her life is now transformed (spiritually, socially and morally). She is now asked by some charitable groups to cater for them,  and even do baking and decoration for them. Her WORTH, DIGNITY and VALUE as a poor Sierra Leone-an woman is getting restored everyday. She can now help her husband in the affairs of the home. Her entire family now respects her. She is now self employed.  It pays to be resilient in all we do in life.
All recent graduates from the school also have doors of opportunity before them. Confidence, hope and authority has been restored in them. THANKS so much for your prayers and concern to see this happen. We would continue to solicit your prayers and support in whatever way to see the vision of the school going. We do have needs and challenges.  She is now one of my wife’s faithful disciple.  Our God is GOOD!
My wife and I will like to bless and encourage your heart with a THANKSGIVING SCRIPTURE. We know that thanksgiving day is right round the corners:
“Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
Psalm 107:8-9

Wishing you and yours a meaningful Thanksgiving Holiday! Would be so grateful to hear from you.  Picture attached is of Mary!
