September 2015 SLVI Update

   Hello Praying Friend,

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

“If you cannot feed a thousand people, then feed just one” (Mother Theressa)
What a joy to be in touch with you again. On behalf of the Proprietress and teachers of the Center for Training the vulnerable Vocational Institute, I write to express THANKS and appreciation for your faithful prayers, concern and love towards the school. Indeed, your prayer is keeping the school going.
The school recently resumed after a short recess declared in the nation. Great to report that final year students are currently on three months internship in the city and it’s surroundings. It’s a test case for them; a time to show the society what they have acquired during their two years of training. Successful performance would eventually earn them a sustainable employment. This is the desire and heart beat (making African women and girls sustainable) of the Proprietress, Mrs Adama Viola Fornah. So far, reports coming in from their respective Supervisors show that they are doing a good job.
It is a great joy to report that the Ebola epidemic is fastly fading away. However, sustaining this trend and post Ebola requires sound teachings at all levels and obeying the stipulated rules and regulations. The Proprietress and teachers have continuously engaged the girls in training through effective teachings on the hazards of Ebola, preventive measures, and post Ebola. Teaching sessions on other health related issues are also emphasized. Women and children were badly effected by the Ebola epidemic. Girls in training are now fully equipped on personal hygiene and post Ebola steps.
Effective counseling continues to gain momentum. Many of the girls are going through various sad traumas,  that need serious attention. God is really using this session to bring hope, restoration, peace and happiness to all of them. This makes the school HOLISTIC in nature. (it caters for the body, soul and spirit). Various skills training continues at a higher dimension, THANKS once more for your prayers!
  PRAYER HIGHLIGHT
1. Pray for spiritual growth and transformation in the lives of the girls.
2. Pray for funding to keep the school running. There are many needs to handle and solve on daily basis.
3. That the Lord would provide funding to build a permanent school. Present location is a rented building, and rent expires in April, 2016. The Lord as provided the land for construction. It needs urgent fencing, and eventually school building.
4. Domestic violence, such as raping and other hazards against women is on the increase in the nation. Pray for a halt against such evil practice.  Teen age pregnancy continues to rise.
5. Pray for a final eradication of Ebola out of the nation.
6. That the Lord would provide scholarship for the girls in training. A great number of them cannot sponsor themselves. The program-me has so much practical demands.
7. Pray that the Lord would continue to grant, wisdom, courage and patience on the Proprietress, as she provides leadership for the students and teachers.
A website for the school is currently under construction. You may like to have a look at it: www.SLVI.org.We would be so grateful to hear from you. Your PARTNERSHIP in promoting our African dream cannot be overemphasized. We have one life to live; we must live it now to glorify His name!  Also, fervently praying for you and yours!
Attached pictures below show the Proprietress giving bags, with hand sanitize-rs  to students, in preparation for post Ebola.  She is putting smiles of hope on their faces.
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,
Rev Warren and Mrs Adama Viola Fornah.

June 2015 SLVI Update

Hello Praying Friend,

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Greetings from Freetown, Sierra Leone. My wife and I are so grateful to report that great art of transformation (spiritual, moral and social) is taking place in the skills vocational school. As my wife steadily moves by FAITH, God continues to show Himself faithful in all manner. Running a skills vocational school for vulnerable girls is quite an expensive venture in Africa. But the reward of seeing holistic transformation in the trainees is far greater than the cost. Praise the Lord! We are trusting you saw the last update and subsequent one.
Many of the girls are now in their second year of studies. They are getting prepared to venture into the city and surroundings on internship (three months). Please, pray for success as they venture. Also, pray for all finances involved in this exercise. Some are orphans and some single parents.
Many enrolled into the program-me with LOW SELF esteem. The program-me has however transformed many and built self confidence, value and dignity in them. African women mainly struggle with low self esteem. My wife is happy the more and fulfilled everyday when she sees transformation and self worth in the girls in training.
Her effective role of daily counseling has further helped to bring out her dreams. Many coming from Muslim backgrounds could now personally and publicly pray, using the name of Jesus. Many more lead morning devotions before commencing the days activities. Please, continue to remember the school in prayers; especially for FUNDING to keep it going. The need for student scholarship is timely and urgent. The needs are many!
THANKS for seriously praying for us. Your partnership in building His African kingdom is highly welcomed and value. Iron sharpens Iron. Keep us updated! Please, we would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this update.  Find pictures attached on what is happening. Trusting the pictures would come out fine.
 Peace, grace and Love!
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,
 Warren and Adama Viola Fornah.

July 2015 SLVI Update

Hello Praying Friend,
Greetings from Freetown, Sierra Leone. My wife and I sincerely THANK you for your consistent prayers and concern towards our family and ministry development. Our ministry with vulnerable girls in the vocational school continues to grow and gain momentum (spiritually, morally and socially). Girls in training are getting better equipped everyday,  in various skills training. (hair dressing, sewing, arts and crafts, catering and literacy). Skills training in Sierra Leone is one of the most needed ventures; especially as the nation is going through various challenges (illiteracy, sickness and poverty). It is commonly believed that when you train a woman, you train a whole nation. This is what my wife is earnestly doing.
Great to report that students in their final year of studies can now boast of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. One of them who entered the school two years from a deplorable home said “I am so gratefully to God for His love and mercy. I entered this school frustrated and with no future hope. However, my two years of intense practical training in catering has transformed my life. (spiritually and socially). I am now serving as a good model in my family. After completing my studies in few months time, I would serve as bread winner in my family”
Sierra Leone-an  women desperately need VALUE, WORTH and DIGNITY. We are fully convinced and persuaded that it all begins in Jesus Christ. Giving skills training to girls is an expensive venture; especially buying practical materials on a daily basis from the market. Many of the girls are single parents and orphans. We have been operating by FAITH. Please, join us in prayers for the following:
  1. That the Holy Spirit would continue to work His transformation in the lives of the students.
  2.  Pray for scholarship opportunity for the girls. This is an urgent need.
  3. Pray for funding to keep the administrative and other affairs of the school going.
  4. Pray for the dedicated teachers. That the good Lord would continue to provide their family needs.
  5. Pray for my wife (Proprietress). She needs wisdom, courage as she handles daily demands of the school.
  6. That the Lord would provide funding for the construction of a permanent school building. The land is already available. The school is presently using a rented house.
  6. Pray for the nation. That the Lord would usher in true transformation in all areas. True HOPE for the land is only found in Jesus Christ.
THANKS once more for taking time to read this update. Your prayers mean a lot to us. Having a partnership with you to build His kingdom in Sierra Leone would make a HUGE difference. We are also fervently praying for you and yours! Would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this update, with pictures attached. Take a look at them!
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,
  Warren and Viola Adama Fornah.
