Hello Praying Friend,
“If you cannot feed a thousand people, then feed just one” (Mother Theressa)
What a joy to be in touch with you again. On behalf of the Proprietress and teachers of the Center for Training the vulnerable Vocational Institute, I write to express THANKS and appreciation for your faithful prayers, concern and love towards the school. Indeed, your prayer is keeping the school going.
The school recently resumed after a short recess declared in the nation. Great to report that final year students are currently on three months internship in the city and it’s surroundings. It’s a test case for them; a time to show the society what they have acquired during their two years of training. Successful performance would eventually earn them a sustainable employment. This is the desire and heart beat (making African women and girls sustainable) of the Proprietress, Mrs Adama Viola Fornah. So far, reports coming in from their respective Supervisors show that they are doing a good job.
It is a great joy to report that the Ebola epidemic is fastly fading away. However, sustaining this trend and post Ebola requires sound teachings at all levels and obeying the stipulated rules and regulations. The Proprietress and teachers have continuously engaged the girls in training through effective teachings on the hazards of Ebola, preventive measures, and post Ebola. Teaching sessions on other health related issues are also emphasized. Women and children were badly effected by the Ebola epidemic. Girls in training are now fully equipped on personal hygiene and post Ebola steps.
Effective counseling continues to gain momentum. Many of the girls are going through various sad traumas, that need serious attention. God is really using this session to bring hope, restoration, peace and happiness to all of them. This makes the school HOLISTIC in nature. (it caters for the body, soul and spirit). Various skills training continues at a higher dimension, THANKS once more for your prayers!
PRAYER HIGHLIGHT
1. Pray for spiritual growth and transformation in the lives of the girls.
2. Pray for funding to keep the school running. There are many needs to handle and solve on daily basis.
3. That the Lord would provide funding to build a permanent school. Present location is a rented building, and rent expires in April, 2016. The Lord as provided the land for construction. It needs urgent fencing, and eventually school building.
4. Domestic violence, such as raping and other hazards against women is on the increase in the nation. Pray for a halt against such evil practice. Teen age pregnancy continues to rise.
5. Pray for a final eradication of Ebola out of the nation.
6. That the Lord would provide scholarship for the girls in training. A great number of them cannot sponsor themselves. The program-me has so much practical demands.
7. Pray that the Lord would continue to grant, wisdom, courage and patience on the Proprietress, as she provides leadership for the students and teachers.
A website for the school is currently under construction. You may like to have a look at it: www.SLVI.org.We would be so grateful to hear from you. Your PARTNERSHIP in promoting our African dream cannot be overemphasized. We have one life to live; we must live it now to glorify His name! Also, fervently praying for you and yours!
Attached pictures below show the Proprietress giving bags, with hand sanitize-rs to students, in preparation for post Ebola. She is putting smiles of hope on their faces.
Yours for the Sierra Leone-an Harvest,
Rev Warren and Mrs Adama Viola Fornah.
